Advisory service moves to new HQ

9:10am Saturday 28th January 2012

A CONFIDENTIAL advice service for young people has moved to a new base.

Bury’s Young Persons Advisory Service (YPAS) has switched from Parsons Lane to Townside Primary Care Centre.

The service provides a free, friendly advice service for people up to the age of 20 on a range of health and well-being issues, such as contraception and sexual health.

The new premises are located on Knowsley Street, opposite the Town Hall.

Kim Robinson, service co-ordinator for Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Young people can still expect the same great service from YPAS; we’re just providing it from a new location. We can give advice on all aspects of sexual health, contraception and access to the condom distribution scheme. We also offer tests for sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia or help with deciding what contraception is right for people.”

YPAS operates a number of drop in clinics every week. In Bury, they are: Monday 3.30pm to 6.30pm; Tuesday 3pm to 5.30pm; Wednesday 3pm to 6pm; Thursday 3pm to 6pm; Friday noon to 3pm; Saturday 11.30am to 1.30pm.

YPAS Radcliffe, based at Radcliffe Primary Care Centre in Church Street West, has a drop-in clinic every Monday, 3.30pm to 5pm n For more information about YPAS: call 0161 762 1588.
